Cosmetic Surgery Alternatives - Injections

Collagen injections are frequently thought of as an alternative to cosmetic surgery, but there are other types of injections that play an increasing role in enhancing the skin and facial features.

Collagen injections are mostly used to improve the appearance of mild to moderate facial wrinkles.

Some people can be allergic to it, so a test is essential. The results may last from 3 months to a year, depending on the person.

While collagen injections can make lips appear fuller and smooth out mild wrinkles, it is not suitable for the vertical wrinkles that often appear between the nose and lips.

Another cosmetic wrinkle filler is a gel made from non-animal based hyaluronic acid, under the trade names Restylane and Hylaform.

FDA approved in 2003/2004, it is integrated into the skin where it attracts and holds moisture to plump out moderate to severe wrinkles.

It mostly lasts six months or longer, but is eventually degraded by the body’s own mechanism, leaving no trace.

A similar procedure is called Lipo-suction. While this is based on injection, the product injected is the patient’s own fat.

Fat is taken from an area that is naturally dense in fat such as the thigh or buttocks, moisture is squeezed out and then it is injected into the area in need of treatment.

An allergic reaction is impossible since the product is from the patient’s own body.

Lipo-suction can be used to re-contour the face, providing definition to the nose and chin, but it’s not suitable for those areas that move frequently.

Nor can it be used to enhance the breasts because it makes the diagnoses of cancerous growths difficult.

Lipo-suction is performed in an outpatients setting as local anaesthetic only is needed. It is possible to have the fat for this procedure harvested during another operation such as a tummy tuck, and frozen for later use.

A procedure called Thermalift is even less invasive. It is used to tighten aging skin or clear acne with no injections or incisions.

A form of radio frequency is used to heat the deep layers of the skin, which in turn shrinks the oil glands, improving the appearance of the skin and clearing acne. Cooling sprays are used at the same time to prevent the skin burning.

Botox is a popular treatment these days. It is a series of injections made that actually weaken the small muscles of the face, thus eliminating wrinkles. The effects last from four to six months.

All Natural Anti Wrinkle Face Cream - Why You Need to Use One

Anti-wrinkle face cream has become a big-ticket item as more and more people seek to turn back the hands of time.

There are many products on the market today which can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and even prevent their development.

However, in order to successfully treat the skin, the use of creams, lotions and other skincare products must be part of a careful overall health regimen.

Treating the signs of aging begins with avoiding their most common causes and maintaining overall health.

Your body will only look as good as it feels, so it is essential that you address your skin care issues from the inside out.

Face wrinkle creams can help at the surface level, but a healthy lifestyle will ensure that your entire body is as fit and strong as possible.

Not surprisingly, the most important steps in maintaining the health of your skin are getting a healthy, balanced diet and proper exercise.

Eating right can go a long way toward producing healthy, glowing skin. Anti-wrinkle face cream can address existing problems, but nothing can fully replace living healthy. It is truly the best revenge!

It is equally important that you avoid the biggest causes of skin damage, particularly sun exposure. Nothing causes dryness and wrinkling more than excess sun.

The most effective face wrinkle cream will contain some level of sun protection, specifically an SPF of 15 or more.

By blocking the effects of the sun's rays, these products can help the skin to remain soft and supple.

Another important irritant to avoid is smoke. Smoking narrows the blood vessels in the outermost layers of the skin and depletes your natural stores of collagen and elastin, resulting in dry, leathery skin.

Anti-wrinkle face cream can help to treat the effects of smoking but nothing will work better than avoiding smoking entirely.

If treating the signs of aging is an issue for you, then you want to be sure to use an all-natural product made solely from organic, plant-based ingredients.

Not only will this allow you to avoid potentially damaging synthetic ingredients, it will expose your skin to the safest, gentlest, healthiest treatment available today.

Face wrinkle cream made from all-natural ingredients can provide proper hydration, nourish the skin and promote collagen growth to restore elasticity.

With the inclusion of vitamin E and other powerful natural antioxidants, all-natural products can also work to rid the body of harmful free radicals and other toxins, helping the skin to heal itself from within.

An anti-wrinkle face cream will only be truly effective if it penetrates beneath the surface and addresses problems at their source.

We all want to hold off the hands of time, and that fight begins with living a healthy life and making informed choices.

By taking the extra time to eat right, exercise, avoid smoking and sun exposure and use only the healthiest all natural skin care products, we can treat our bodies with the care they deserve. We only get one chance at life... it's up to us to make the best of it.

The Secret World of Microdermabrasion for a Perfect Skin

So many people today are worried about their skin and keeping it clean and healthy trying to find the right soaps and creams that could give them relief.

More often than not though, the creams and soaps available on the market or prescribed by the dermatologist are not enough to keep away the pimples and dry skin. Luckily there is hope for those desperate situations today.

Microdermabrasion is a wonderful tool for those people who have problems with fine lines, wrinkles, acne, scars and pores with severe build up as well as people who have overexposed their skin to the sun.

Depending on the severity of your skin condition, more than one application is needed before you can get satisfactory results. If used regularly it can keep your complexion healthier and younger.

Microdermabrasion consists of the removal of the outer layer of the skin thanks to a light abrasion.

It is normally done in spas and salons with specific machines but now it can be done at home too. It is very cheap and easy do do at home.

The procedure consists of the abrasion of zinc oxide or aluminum crystals to remove the skin cells of the outer layer of the skin.

Some clients have complained that when going to spas and salons this procedure can be very painful leaving the skin sore for several days.

On the other hand, the microdermabrasion kits that are sold for home use can be a cheap and almost painless way of treating the skin.

It works with batteries and comes with three soft brushes for the abrasion together with a container full of diamond crystals made of zinc oxide that are applied to the face.

This version is a soft and easy way of cleaning your complexion and the procedure only lasts a few minutes.

The kit is extremely useful for hard working women who do not have the time to go to spas or salons.

Not only women can benefit from microdermabrasion but men too. It has become very popular in the past few years, and has become very widespread especially for younger men.

Until a few years ago men usually used soap and water to cleanse their skin but now they carefully take care of themselves even more than women do and when it comes to removing scars and pimples spas and beauty salons offer their services offering microdermabrasion sessions.

Whether you are a man or a woman having skin problems after trying everything else, microdermabrasion is the answer and the hope that in the future experts will be able to find other methods used together with this one so it may have a much longer lasting effect.

All about cleansing your face

Cleansing is the cornerstone of an effective skin care regimen. It is important for the long term health of your skin as it reduces bacteria, keeps pore ducts open and exfoliates surface skin cells.

If waste is allowed to accumulate it can block the pores, thus blocking the secretion of the glands from coming to the top of the skin.

These secretions provide the skin with the weapons it needs to combat infections, toxic agents, etc. Cleansing stimulates the circulation, which improves the blood supply to the skin and nourishes it.

The best way to cleanse your face is the gentlest way; use a rinse off facial cleanser and forget about soap - its pH is too high.

Cleansing also gives a healthy glow to the surface of the skin. A high pH soap will dry the skin and diminish its life expectancy.

The skin's surface is mildly acidic, having a pH of around 5. Most soaps have a pH of well over 7, some as high as 10.

Soaps with a high pH will not only dry the skin, but also eliminate its acid mantle (protective coating on the skin's surface).

Unlike soaps, facial cleansers remove makeup and dirt, but leave the skin felling soft and silky. Facial cleansers basically consist of oil, water and surfactants (agents which allow oil to mix with water).

The oil in the facial cleanser dissolves the oil on the face; the surfactants dissolve everything else; water washes the face clean.

The best facial cleansers also contain natural botanical extracts to soothe, protect, nourish and moisturize the face.

When choosing a facial cleanser, be sure to pick one that is appropriate for your skin type and condition.

Precede facial cleansing by washing your hands first; otherwise you will simply be working additional dirt in to your face.

Splash your face generously with tepid to slightly warm water. Spread a nickel sized dollop of facial cleanser into your palm or on a soft cotton wash cloth.

Using fingertips or washcloth, gently wash face using circular and upward motions. Wash face for approximately 30 seconds for dry skin, 60 seconds for normal skin and 90 seconds for oily skin.

Then rinse and rinse again with tepid to slightly warm water. Any residue left behind will have a drying effect.

It's not too much to splash your face 20 times and drench the sink in the process - your face will thank you for it!

Pat (do not rub) face dry with a clean towel. Follow by toning and moisturizing the face. Perform this simple skin care regimen twice daily and you'll be amazed at the positive difference it makes in your faces health and appearance!

Natural Winter Skin Care

Winter is a wonderful time of the year - holidays, warm fires, crisp air, and for many, fresh fallen snow.

Bur the colder temperature and lower humidity affect the condition of your skin and hair.

Here are some suggestions for protecting your skin and hair:

1. The skin on your hands is thinner than in other areas of your body, and it needs extra protection and care.

Make sure that after washing your hands you dry thoroughly and use a good hand cream. Wearing gloves outdoors will also protect them and keep your skin soft.

2. Elbows, knees, and feet are completely covered in the winter months, and usually forgotten until spring. Clothing and boots can cause friction that creates a buildup of thick skin.

A good scrubbing with a natural lofah sponge, followed by a rich cream will remove any problems here.

3. Sun protection is very important in the winter months, just as it is year-round. Many people forget to use sunscreen, but sun reflects off snow and ice, and you can actually get double the sun exposure.

4. Protect your lips with a good lip balm, and avoid licking your lips as much as possible, since that will cause your lips to crack and chap.

If you get a bad case of chapped or cracked lips, use some Vaseline Intensive care before bed, and you should be good to go in the morning.

5. Winter winds and low humidity are also hard on your hair, and using a rich, deep hair conditioner is important to restore moisture to your hair.

6. One way to keep your skin in great shape is getting a massage. You don't have to go to a specialist for this: just get out your favorite massage oil and ask a family member to give you a quick massage. Then relax and enjoy the experience and the benefits.

Here are some of the best natural beauty ingredients available for winter skin and hair care:

Baking Soda - can be used as a deodorant, bath powder, or tooth whitener. Mixed with water, it helps remove residues from hairstyling products, making your hair clean and shiny.

Beans - Finely ground until powder-like, beans make a great cleanser for your face and body: just add the powdered beans to your favorite cleanser and massage into damp skin. Dry beans are rich in protein, potassium and iron, all good ingredients for healthy skin.

Citrus Fruit - contains citric acid, which kills bacteria on the skin. Also, the fresh scent is a known energizer. Rinse your hair with lemon juice mixed with water when you hair is dull and tired.

Maple Syrup - can be used as a facial mask, or hair conditioner, and it's one of the best natural moisturizers. For best results, make sure you look for syrup marked 100% pure.

Tea Tree Oil - this oil has very powerful antibacterial and antiviral qualities, and it's easily absorbed by the skin.

Enjoy your beautiful skin and hair this coming winter!

Relaxing Hot Wax Therapy and Beauty Bath

Do you have aches and pains in the joints of your hands?

Do you have rough, dry or cracked hands or feet?

If you have either condition, a "Hot Wax Bath" may be the ideal answer for you. It is relaxing, soothing and conditioning.

What is a "Hot Wax Bath"?

It is simply a heated container of specially formulated wax. The vessel automatically melts the wax when you turn it on.

It keeps the wax at a safe temperature for your sensitive skin. Once the wax (paraffin) is melted, you dip your hand or foot into the container of melted wax.

Then you pull your hand out and let it dry a moment and repeat this process five to ten times.

After this process has been repeated you will have a hand coated in layers of warm wax. You then put your hand into a plastic bag that comes with the wax.

This protects against oils in the wax getting on clothing or furniture. Next, you put your hand into a terry cloth mitt or wrap it in a towel. You can do two hands or just one at a time.

How many ways can you relax for fifteen minutes?

Put on some soft music. Light a few candles. Start heating your aromatherapy dish of fragrance. Step into a soothing hot bath. Just relax in your favorite chair with your eyes closed while the wax works its wonders.

A daily treatment of hot paraffin on your hands and feet will do you a world of good physically and emotionally. It really is a treatment that can soothe the skin and calm the soul.

Once you are done, peel the wax off of your hands and put it back into the wax container to melt and use again.

If this was in a therapy or salon situation, you might want to discard the used wax. But, since this is your personal wax unit, why not reuse the wax each time?

You did wash your hands before starting, didn't you?

Discard or reuse, it is up to you. You can get the wax melting pot and wax at major department stores such as Wal-Mart or even your local pharmacy store.

They come in different sizes and price ranges. Different companies make them. Two brands are Dr. Scholl's and Homedics.

You can get a home unit that holds 3 pounds or 6 pounds of wax. The larger unit is easier to put hands and feet into or even an elbow.

You can get scented waxes to go into your wax tub. Pick your favorite fragrance, tangerine, rose, lavender, citrus, peach, wintergreen and more.

If you can't fine them at your local medical supply store or beauty store, they are available online.

Gardening Keeps You Fit and Sexy

Wave goodbye to treadmills, weights and regimented exercise programs and get in shape in your own backyard. You don't need a gym to keep you fit and sexy if you have a garden.

The fitness gospel has long preached the virtues of exercising in sweaty gyms and ugly Lycra, but there is another option.

Experts agree that a regular dose of gardening promotes a sense of well-being, raises your fitness levels and makes you look sexy.

According to Dr. Steven Palmer, Director of the Center for Stress Management and a professor at City University, gardening is an excellent form of stress management and therapy. Dr. Alison Joy, a physician, agrees. She says, "People love gardening and there's very little injury involved".

Gardening is rarely promoted as a form of exercise but regular, energetic and varied sessions in the open air offer the perfect workout for men and women.

In fact, according to the latest research, digging burns about double the calories per minute of a more commonly endorsed form of exercise, such as biking.

Even more startling, is the discovery that aerobics is less of a calorie-burner than a vigorous session of digging.

Other gardening tasks are also good sources of weight loss - hedge trimming burns more calories than cycling, and mowing outstrips biking and aerobics.

Believe it or not, a job as banal as raking leaves can actually qualify as a cardiovascular activity - but it has to do with heavy raking.

Yet no-one talks about the huge health benefits that gardening brings. It is definitely a calorie-burner and the beauty of it is that it's a bit like a game of golf, whether you're gardening at 18 or 90, the health and psychological benefits are the same.

Research also shows that more people prefer to spend time in their garden than go to the pub or play golf.

For some, the garden holds more appeal than even the bedroom - an astonishing one in four women prefers her garden than sex.

The beauty of gardening is that anybody can do it. Unlike the bleak, goal challenging rigors of the gym, gardening is great fun. For some, gardening is more productive than going to the gym.

It is less sweaty and it makes you feel on the top of the world. Even so, it's vital not to overdo things by approaching your garden in a frenzied manner, hell-bent on transforming it from a rubbish dump to a metropolitan Eden in a matter of hours.

Like any sports, gardening can cause injury. "It's all boils down to techniques", explains Nigel Wallace of the Fitness Industry Association.

"Most people don't bend their knees but their backs." "The worst thing in lifting pots or logs is to bend forward in a standing position", say osteopath Leo Meyer.

"It puts enormous strain on the spine. Bend your knees, keep the pots as close to your body as possible and avoid lifting with your back bent."

Variety - mowing for a few minutes and raking the leaves the next - is the best way to avoid injury. It's also great for all-around body conditioning.

7 Tips for Beautiful Skin

For most women, part of the morning and evening routines involve a skincare regimen of applying creams, moisturizers, tonics, lotions, and the like.

Why do women put themselves through this?

They do it primarily to combat the signs of aging, and to maintain youthful looks and beautiful skin! It is a safe bet, however, that most women haven't put much thought into what is in the products that they are using.

Some women probably do not realize that what they are putting on their skin may actually be undermining what they are trying to prevent to begin with.

In fact the average woman puts twelve products on her skin daily, most of which contain harmful chemical preservatives.

Dr. Myron Wentz, founder and chairperson of USANA Health Sciences, has this to say about beauty in the company magazine's June/July 2005 issue:

"Some say that beauty is only skin deep". Nonsense!

I believe that true beauty is a reflection of true health, and true health begins deep inside each and every cell in the body.

But true health and true beauty have an outer component, which is why we require protection from environmental insults such as solar radiation, pollutants in our environment and the drying effects of air. . .

The fact is you simply cannot contain a healthy body if your skin isn't healthy.

And your skin can't be healthy if your are subjecting it to toxic substances that are ultimately absorbed into your body."

So, what can women do?

How can they combat environmental pollutants, the affect of solar radiation, and the drying effects of air?

How can they be sure they are using the very best products on their skin so they can be healthy inside and out? Here are 7 tips to assist in this process:

1. Be very aware of what is in skincare products. Use products that are all natural as much as possible.

2. Look for products that contain Dermal Surface Renewal Technology. DSR smoothes away existing signs of aging such as laugh lines, crows feet, and dullness.

3. Use products that have regenisomes. Regenisomes penetrate the skin to speed cell renewal after sun exposure. They also use the light of photosomes to undo sun damage, and have ultrasomes to renew skin while sleeping.

4. Find products with Proteo-C and Proflavonol-T. These two vitamins protect the skin from premature aging caused by the sun, pollution, and other environmental factors. They also provide advanced nutrition to the skin to keep it appearing smooth and firm.

5. If possible, use products that are paraben free. Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives that are widely used in personal care products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products, make-up, facial masks, skin lotions and creams, and deodorants.

They also are typically ingredients in baby lotions, shampoos, and other personal care products for infants and children. In addition, parabens are in many foods and pharmaceutical products.

Researchers are beginning to find parabens in benign and malignant human breast tumors.

While some studies have challenged their toxicity in many products and question their long term affect on humans, using products that are paraben free can eliminate the risk of exposure to this harmful chemical.

6. Drink plenty of water! Water hydrates skin and hair as well as flushes toxins out of the body.

7. Limit stress or learn to manage it effectively. Stress is harmful both emotionally and physically. Find that stress reliever activity that works best and use it on a daily basis!

Follow the above 7 tips to true beauty and health.

Got Varicose Vein Worries?

Varicose veins are enlarged veins that can be flesh colored, dark purple or blue. Varicose veins are also called varicosity and varicosis.

They are commonly found on the backs of the calves or on the inside of the legs. These veins are swollen and twisted veins that are visible just under the surface of the skin.

The condition is more common in women, and the people are more likely to get them as they get older.

In the United States, this common condition affects up to 15 percent of men and up to 25 percent of women.

Varicose veins are common and are usually not a sign of a serious medical problem.

Treatment

Treatment falls into two basic classes: relief of symptoms and removal of the affected veins.

Treatment may be recommended when the varicose veins are causing skin ulcers, serious skin conditions, blood clots, significant pain, or disruption of daily life activities.

Although individual veins can be removed or eliminated by surgery or injection therapy, the disorder cannot be cured. Treatment is not always necessary

If your varicose veins do not respond to commonly prescribed treatments for varicose veins then it is possible that the veins are a symptom of a much more serious problem such as obesity, impending stroke or heart condition.

Treatment includes sclerotherapy, laser surgery, and vein stripping.

Current treatments for varicose veins and spider veins have very high success rates compared to traditional surgical treatments. Some people with varicosity may choose to have medical or surgical treatments to improve the cosmetic appearance of varicose veins.

Other treatments may require that you wear compression stockings or bandages for a period ranging from a couple of days to a few weeks following the procedure.

A combination of treatments often produce the best results. Keep in mind, as time passes, you may find that you need "touch-up or full treatments for new veins that surface.

Prevention

How can I prevent varicose veins and spider veins?

Sorry to say there is no way to completely prevent varicose veins. Given that the causes are still undetermined, prevention of varicose veins is debatable.

It is generally felt that long term, support hose wearing may prevent these veins from forming or cause those veins you already have to disappear.

Some say the best way to prevent varicose veins if they are in your family is avoid standing for long periods.

Others suggest, elevating legs by lying down or using a footstool when sitting relieves the symptoms of varicose veins but does not prevent new veins from forming.

There is a father list on the government website http://www.4women.gov/faq/varicose.htm.

In conclusion, varicose veins are most common in the legs and thighs. Varicose veins are abnormal dilated blood vessels caused by a weakening in the vessel wall.

These veins are most common on the legs, because leg veins must work against gravity.

The root causes of varicose veins are unclear. Usually the condition is not dangerous, so if you don't mind their appearance they can go untreated with no problems.

Signs of Toenail Fungus

Sometimes people have discolored toenails. This is not necessarily a fungal infection.

It is necessary to differentiate the common signs of toenail fungus as early as possible because once toenail fungus has taken hold it can be difficult to eradicate.

In general, the longer toenail fungus is left untreated the longer the treatment will have to be.

The most common signs of toenail fungus are a yellow or brown discoloration of the nail.

This is followed by thickening of the nail, dryness of the nail, and accumulation of layers of material under and along the nail.

The nail may become brittle and break or crumble. A health care expert or podiatrist can diagnose toenail fungus almost at a glance.

Your health care provider should be able to help you find the best treatment for your toenail fungus.

Depending on how long the fungus has gone unchecked you may be in danger of losing your nail.

The other risks of leaving nail fungus unchecked include the possibility of it spreading to other nails on the foot.

Signs of fungal infection usually occur first on the big toe. Many fungal infections are found exclusively in the big toe, and do not affect other toes on the foot.

Your health care provider will be able to tell whether the fungus is actually toenail or if it is athletes foot (a common misdiagnosis).

After feet and nails are examined your health care provider may trim away as much of the nail as possible to prevent the infection from spreading, and to prepare the nail for treatment.

Fungi can live undetected for many months lying on a nail bed, just waiting for the opportunity to strike, so taking some preventative measures before it actually occurs, including proper inspection of toes, feet and shoes, decrease the chance of developing this or any other fungal infection.

Avoid walking barefoot in public facilities, particularly if they are places with moist conditions, such as showers, locker rooms or pools, and always be aware of the signs of toenail fungus. Always be sure to dry feet thoroughly after showering.

Contact your health care provider as soon as possible if you believe you may have a fungal infection in your toenail, or if you have any concerns about other complaints such as in growing toenails.

It is always better to raise your concerns early to avoid prolonged and uncomfortable treatment later on.

6 Pregnant Skin Problems You Should Know About

Are you plagued by pregnant skin problems? It's no fun feeling nauseous, tired, bloated and heavy.

Having skin problems on top of that just makes things even worse right?

It makes you wonder if all those pregnant women you see in advertisements with their glowing, blemish free skin are real.

Well, it's unfortunate that pregnant skin problems are a common thing, no thanks to crazy hormones. So, if you're wondering if it's just you, it's not.

Here is a list of common pregnant skin problems. See if any sound familiar to you.

Melasma

This skin condition is also known as chloasma or pregnancy mask. Your face has dark patches in places such as forehead, nose, chin, and upper cheeks.

Some people also have it on their upper lip making them look like they have a moustache. This problem of uneven pigmentation may also appear as dark circles around the eyes.

Melasma isn't just a face problem, it can also happen to your arms. Melasma is more likely to happen in dark skinned women.

The good news is the problem goes away after you've given birth. However, I'm guessing you don't want to wait that long.

So, the best thing you can do is to protect yourself from the sun. Limit your time in the sun, use sunblock with SPF 30 or higher, wear a brimmed hat and stay away from tanning salons.

You may not get rid of the skin problem entirely this way, but you will at least minimize it. Another solution is to take enough folic acid. Research suggests lack of folic acid may increase skin discoloration.

Get sufficient doses of folic acid through supplements and folate rich foods such as whole grains and green leafy vegetables.

Skin Darkening

You may find natural dark areas of you body such as the areola and nipples of you breast, moles, freckles, scars, birthmarks, and skin around you genitals becoming darker than usual.

It could also happen to your inner thighs and underarms. This happens because your body is experiencing a temporary increase in melanin production.

A Dark Line Down Your Belly

This is known as linea nigra. It runs from the lower chest to the navel and also extends to the pubic area.

It usually appears during the second trimester and should slowly disappear after your baby is born. You may need to give it a gentle rub to get rid of any dry skin. The line appears darker in darker skinned women.

Acne

You may feel like you're reliving your adolescent days with all those acne, white heads and bumps breaking out everywhere.

To fight acne during pregnancy, practice good cleansing habits. Keep your face clean and keep your hands away from your face.

Don't over wash your face as the dryness will cause your face to produce more oil. Twice a day should be enough. Use gentle cleansers such as oatmeal-based scrubs.

Drink plenty of water and eat foods that contain antioxidants such as prunes, blueberries, dark green, yellow and orange vegetables, beans, pecans, walnuts and wheat germ.

Be wary of the acne creams you use as some are not suitable for pregnant women. If you want to try natural products, try neem or aloe vera.

Stretch Marks

Statistic say 75-90 percent of all pregnant women develop those unsightly stretch marks. These red or purple streaks not only appear on your growing abdomen, but can also show up on your hips, breasts, buttocks, hips and arms.

Can stretch marks be avoided? Yes. Find a moisturizing product that can penetrate pass your skin's epidermis (top layer) and deep into the dermis (second layer.) Search for products with high amounts of vitamin A, vitamin E, emu oil, collagen, glycolic acid, elastin, liposomes and aloe vera gel.

Itchy Skin

Are you going crazy with the itching? Unfortunately, pregnancy can cause dry and flaky skin which is the reason for your itching.

Plus, your expanding abdomen causes rubbing of skin such as between the stomach and the top of the pubic area and also between the inner thighs.

This rubbing can cause prickly heat rash too. In hot weather, wear loose cotton clothing. Stay out of the sun and keep cool.

Invest in a good moisturizer and a lotion to take away the itch like calamine, aloe vera or tea tree oil.

Take note that itchy skin in the third trimester may be a sign of Obstetic Cholestasis. It's a liver disease that may endanger the life of your unborn child.

The itch is so severe, it interferes with your daily activities, even sleep. The itching may be accompanied by jaundice, dark urine, fatigue and poor appetite.

Check with your doctor if you suspect your itching is not normal. Get proper treatment to avoid the possibility of a stillbirth.

Don't let pregnant skin problems take out the joy in your pregnancy. Be ready for the changes and know that you're not alone.

Most of these skin problems will disappear after you deliver your baby. Just endure it the best that you can till then.

Cosmetic Surgery...Now Safer and More Effective!

In recent years the growth of cosmetic surgery has increased due to the procedures becoming much safer and more effective.

There are now limitless possibilities for the improvement of the human figure, whether it is in the face, body or limbs. If your body sags, bags, wrinkles or pouches or if you feel something is too big, too little or even the wrong shape, cosmetic surgery will probably fix it.

Cosmetic surgery is not only for those who are dissatisfied with their natural looks. It is used to correct certain faults that may be present either from a birth defect or illness and which have contributed to the person’s ill health or prevented their social well-being.

Bat-ears is one problem that has caused many youngsters to go through the agonies of taunting from those less kind.

Otoplasty is the form of cosmetic surgery that will correct this problem. The results are almost immediate and dramatic in their impact upon the happy recipient.

After surgery that takes only about two hours, a full head-bandage is worn for 24 hours, followed by a single ski-type band around the head for a few weeks until the small incisions heal properly.

Blepharoplasty is cosmetic surgery to correct sagging of the eyelids due to age or genetic inheritance of fatty deposits.

Drooping eyelids can cause eyes to become irritated and vision to become impaired. Excess skin is cut away and fatty deposits treated at the same time.

In some cases the condition may be due to thyroid or allergy problems, in which case medication for these problems may be a preferred alternative.

Many cosmetic surgery procedures are performed under general anaesthetic and can be considered as serious an operation as one that is necessary to save a life.

Therefore, it should never be undertaken lightly. Always be sure to ask your surgeon every detail you can think of about the operation and don’t be afraid to find out whether he is fully qualified for the job.

Other forms of cosmetic surgery such as dermabrasion, laser resurfacing and injections are less invasive and most effective in solving some health problems.

These procedures can be used to reduce scarring from acne and other causes, to remove some precancerous lesions and to plump out wrinkles.

The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery promotes and encourages the art and science of cosmetic surgery in all its forms and can supply reliable information about various procedures to enhance the prospective patients’ decision making.

Anti Aging Skin Care Ingredients

You can improve the overall appearance of aging skin by supplying it with gentle, effective and protective anti aging skin care ingredients that have a proven track record for helping aging skin look and feel better.

Providing such benefits to skin on a daily basis will enhance its health and appearance, encourage collagen production, and help generate normalized skin cells, greatly reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

For defying the aging process, the following anti aging skin care ingredients will help the skin to repair itself and function optimally:

Alpha Hydroxy Acids: Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's) are nature's gift for aging skin. AHA's occur naturally in several foods and include citric acid (from citrus fruits), malic acid (from apples), tartaric acid (from grapes), lactic acid (from milk) and glycolic acid (from sugarcane).

When applied to the skin, AHA's supplement the skin's natural exfoliation process by loosening and sloughing away the outer layer of dead skin cells, revealing the newer, smoother skin cells underneath.

This process rejuvenates the skin by improving circulation and stimulating new cell growth, resulting in a fresher, healthier complexion and reduced pore size.

Another benefit is that exfoliation helps other skin care products, particularly moisturizers, penetrate skin and be much more effective.

DMAE: DMAE is an amazing nutrient that extends the life of cells and inhibits the cross linking of proteins, which gives the skin a tone and firm appearance.

Excellent for fine lines, DMAE is one of the most important anti aging skin care ingredients.

Shea Butter: Shea Butter is solid and comes from the natural fat obtained from the karite tree grown in west and central Africa. Often referred to as karite butter, Shea Butter is an emollient (an agent that softens and soothes the skin).

It is extremely therapeutic, helping to heal cracked, aged and damaged skin. Its chemical constituents help to heal bruising and soreness.

Shea Butter penetrates the skin leaving it feeling soft and smooth. It contains vitamins A and E and is highly compatible with the skin.

Shea Butter also has a high concentration of unsaponifiables and cinnamic esters, which have antimicrobial and moisturizing properties and provide protection from the UV rays of the sun.

Glycerin: Glycerin is obtained by adding alkalies to fats and fixed oils. It is a soothing humectant that draws moisture from the air to the skin. It is also an emollient.

Jajoba Oil: Jajoba Oil is cold pressed from the nuts of the jajoba tree, cultivated in California, Arizona, Mexico and Israel. Pronounced Ho-Ho-Ba, it contains protein, minerals and a waxy substance that mimics collagen.

Jajoba Oil is not greasy and absorbs right into the skin, moisturizing and protecting the skin.

When choosing a skin care product, be sure it contains some or all of the anti aging skincare ingredients listed above.

Herbs & Homeopathic Remedies May Alleviate Menopausal Symptoms

Does hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for your menopause make your blood run cold?

Many women are faced with the potential risks associated with HRT. First, let’s take a quick look at the three stages of menopause.

Menopause begins in your early 40s as your ovaries gradually produce less and less of the hormone estrogen.

Your periods become erratic sometimes skipping a month or alternating between light and heavy.

The next period of time is the transitioning to actual menopause. During this time you may continue to have erratic periods and the “fun stuff” begins to settle in for a long visit.

Yes, fun stuff like hot flashes, vaginal dryness, mood swings and insomnia are some of the symptoms.

The final and actual onset of menopause usually occurs in your early 50s and is represented by the absence of your period for a full 12 months. It’s those in between years that can wreak havoc in your life.

Are there natural alternatives for chemical HRT? The good news is yes! It’s a sad fact that less than two percent of doctors even mention alternative therapies and that most of them feel there is no benefit.

Thousands of women would disagree. Here are just a few of the many natural alternatives:

Try adjusting your diet to include vegetables and fish that are high in Omega-3 as they contain nutrients that can help your body deal with menopause naturally.

Conversely, there are foods that can make your menopausal symptoms worse. Caffeine, sugar, fatty dairy products, salt, alcohol and saturated oils can aggravate the symptoms.

Be sure and take a daily multivitamin making certain that the vitamin contains 100% of the daily allowance for nutrients. Just be aware that vitamins are no substitute for following a healthy diet.

If menopause causes mood swings, it only makes sense that it’s possible to experience extreme responses for stress.

Try using deep breathing techniques, meditation or some other methods of relaxation that works for you and practice the technique for 10 to 20 minutes per day. You will be left feeling calmer, more able to cope and more in control.

Exercising regularly can also help alleviate menopausal symptoms. Scheduling at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week will relieve hot flashes. You will be able to think more clearly and reduce your risk of osteoporosis and heart disease.

Some women have found relief through yoga and acupressure. Both are mainstays of practitioners of eastern medicine.

Last, but not least, we come to herbal treatments. Beans and certain other plants have a mild estrogenic activity in their makeup thanks to "phytoestrogens."

These are compounds that include isoflavins, lignans, phytoseterols and saponins. In additional to helping your body through menopause, animal experiments show they are significantly effective in preventing tumors of the breast tissue.

Without sending you off for a medical dictionary to understand the compounds listed above, here are some of the foods and herbs that contain healthy compounds: Soy, black cohosh, licorice, alfalfa, chasteberry, Chinese angelica, red clover, strawberry, celery stalks, dates, elder, false unicorn root, fennel, Honduran sarsaparilla, lady’s slipper, liferoot, Mexican wild yams, passion flower, pomegranates and sassafras.

The foods, of course, are available from your local grocery. Visit your local health food store where you should be able to find the herbs and methods to include them in your daily diet.

What You Should Know About Cellulite Laser Treatment

"I hate cellulite! It's everywhere. How do I get rid of it?"

Do you feel the same way about cellulite?

According to Dr. Howard Murad, the author of "The Cellulite Solution," 90% of women have cellulite. So just because you're thin, doesn't mean you can't get cellulite.

Even fabulous looking Hollywood starlets such as Jennifer Love Hewitt, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez and Pamela Anderson can't run away from cellulite.

Cellulite is commonly found on the thighs, hips and buttocks. It has often been described as ugly lumps and dimples, cottage cheese and even orange peel.

One type of cellulite treatment that has recently caught many people's attention is that of cellulite laser treatment. There are a few different laser treatments to choose from:

1. Velashape (newer version of Velasmooth or Amerismooth)
2. Accent Laser Surgery
3. TriActive Laser

Although each laser treatment offers different features, the basic idea is the same. A low energy laser is used to either shrink or break down fat deposits.

The treatment also involves massage to encourage circulation and lymphatic drainage that will reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Even though people are excited about this new breakthrough technology, still the question of "will it work for me?" remains.

On one hand you have success stories such as reality TV star Kim Kardashian. She has recently widely publicized her success story of getting rid of cellulite through laser treatment.

Then on the other hand, searching online you will find a disturbing number of negative reviews for laser cellulite. Some say they didn't see a change.

Some say there was a little change but not enough to justify their cost. These disappointed women are all screaming that it's just a waste of money.

ABC news 20/20 decided to test out for themselves if certain anti-cellulite treatments really work.

They chose a photo editor at Star magazine, Jessica, to try out the TriActive laser. After one month of treatment, she was evaluated by Dr. David Bank, director of the Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic and Laser Surgery in Mount Kisco, New York.

The result?

There was no change in Jessica except for her pocket which was $1400 poorer.

So, should you or should you not opt for laser cellulite surgery?

Let's take a quick look at the pros and cons so you can make a more informed decision.

The Upside

1. It's not really a surgery. It's a non-invasive treatment. Therefore, you don't face any risks associated with surgery.

2. Short recovery time. You can resume your activities the next day with little or no complication.

3. So far, there are no known side effects. Patients may experience some skin redness but that goes away pretty quickly.

4. Europe reports great success with this procedure and they have been utilizing it for some time now.

The Downside

1. You won't see results overnight. You will have to undergo a series of treatments. Each session cost between $100-$150.

Usually there is an offer package of a fixed number of sessions. The cost of these fall between $1500-$1800. As you can see, this is not a cheap treatment.

2. It's not a guaranteed solution. It may or may not work for you. Since it's not cheap, are you willing to gamble with so much money?

3. This treatment does not come with a money back guarantee. Don't expect a refund.
4. Your insurance does not cover this type of treatment. They consider it cosmetic surgery.

5. It doesn't get rid of cellulite forever. Cellulite can come back. That's why they will recommend you to go back for maintenance sessions like once a month. That just means a never ending bill.

6. Cellulite laser treatment is still in the infancy development stage.

It doesn't seem to have short term side effects but what about long term?

This has yet to be thoroughly assessed.

7. It's not suppose to hurt but some say it was painful. Bruising is also not uncommon. Your laser experience depends on the efficiency and knowledge of the person administering it.

Now that we've reviewed the good and the bad, let's once again ask the important questions:

1. Does it work?

It might. There's no guarantee that your body will respond positively to the treatment. However, you can increase your chances of success by leading a more healthy lifestyle which includes a good diet and exercise.

2. Should you try it?

It depends if you have money to burn and if you are willing to burn it. Also, if you've already tried all else and didn't find a solution, then why not?

Cellulite laser treatment may sound like a great way to get rid of your unsightly cellulite, but don't rush into it. Cellulite is not a life threatening disease. So think carefully first if it's going to be worth your money.

WHAT YOUR CLOTHES SAY ABOUT YOU

People often say that your clothes define who you are. Generally, you wear clothes to fit the occasion.

Some people wear clothes they feel comfortable in while others feel the need to wear stylish clothes that follow the current trends of the fashion industry.

No matter which of these categories you fit into, here are some basic rules of selecting different clothing styles to improve your appearance.

1. Clean and neat is acceptable; grungy and lousy ones are a no-no.

This applies to clothes for any occasion. Wash and properly iron and maintain your clothes so they do not have that worn-out look. This applies to each detail of your appearance as well.

Make sure that the accessories you choose match your outfit and make certain that you are well-groomed, from the top of your head to the tips of your newly-polished shoes.

2. Wear your clothes with an attitude.

You can look elegant even if you are just wearing jeans and a white shirt; this is where class and élan comes in. Some people can look great even when they are wearing a sack-like dress.

If you are the type of person who can pull off wearing jeans to a black-tie affair without looking like a “fish out of water”, then you can probably wear anything you desire and still manage to look great.

If you are not naturally born with the appearance a super model, try to improve your appearance by paying attention to small details and trying out different types of clothes. Ask for a friend’s or a professional opinion to ensure that you make the most of your attributes..

3. Make sure that your clothes fit.

From your underclothing to your blouse, pants, skirt, coat and shoes – never wear anything that does not fit well. A smooth, tailored look will further enhance your appearance and make you look as if Ralph Lauren personally designed your clothes for you.

4. Go with trends but do not overdo it.

If animal print is in season, acquire one piece of that theme as part of your wardrobe and pair it with something that is more understated. Never wear a tiger-print blouse, shoes and skirt all at the same time. When it comes to trends - less is more.

5. Mix and match.

In your wardrobe, have one item of everything: do not buy multiple pieces of the same color and style of jeans or shirts. Variety will make your outfits more fun and interesting.

Remember that these are just fashion basics, but the basic rule is to wear whatever you feel comfortable in, experiment, have fun wearing your clothes with an attitude!

CONFIDENCE ENHANCES BEAUTY

Some of the most successful people in life know what is needed to make any of their dreams come true.

The task may take a great deal of time and effort and the only thing that will keep the individual going, despite the setbacks, is confidence.

Everyone needs this as well as a little determination and push from those around them can help them along the way.

Whenever a challenge presents itself, people should be optimistic. If fellow colleagues succeed, congratulate and praise them for a job well done.

This will cause others to think highly of you as a “self-starter” and help you no matter what the odds are.

Confidence always starts with good posturing and a smile.

Everyone has accomplished certain feats in life and a person should always remember this to be able to achieve a second triumph.

Being confident is also about being realistic. If a certain task is difficult, a person should be honest and speak up.

Rather than just mentioning the problems, a smart person will offer solutions for overcoming these obstacles.

Some people may envy the many accomplishments of an individual and will try to discourage that person.

A confident individual knows who to listen to and what to believe. The goal must be kept in mind the entire time and simply ignore discouraging statements .

Confidence can also be enhanced by associating with people who share the same enthusiasm. This can be accomplished by joining a club or finding new friends.

These individuals may have ideas worth sharing and listening to that will help a person achieve more in the future.

Some people believe that the attire a person wears is another sign of confidence. This doesn’t mean buying expensive clothes or make up: it simply means dressing properly for the occasion and using proper grooming.

Everyone has role models. These individuals may be deceased but the accomplishments of these people have lived on. By thinking of that key personality and being consistent, a person will be able to succeed in a similar manner worth remembering.

Humans are not perfect and mistakes will happen. By being aware of these limitations, a person will still have room for improvement.

There are strengths and weaknesses in everyone. By having friends and family members present to challenge the person to move forward, an individual’s true beauty is apparent. This will make it possible to overcome the odds and succeed in life’s challenges.

DIETING TO A BETTER APPEARANCE

Many people find it difficult to look in the mirror and accept the reality that the person they see is obese or overweight. It hurts even more when those around make fun of the individual.

This may occur because an individual eats too much and doesn’t burn the calories in the food that has been consumed or it may be caused by genetics. Regardless of the reason, there is still hope.

A person may have to work hard to achieve an ideal weight and desired appearance which may be accomplished by living a healthier lifestyle.

A good solution will be to make some dietary changes.

A dietitian can design a program for a person to follow. Making some dietary changes does not mean giving up many of their favorite foods; it simply means eating smaller quantities and including food from all of the food groups.

The body needs energy to get through the day. When a person engages in an activity, the first source of energy tapped is always carbohydrates.

These include oats, rice, pasta, bread, cereals and potatoes: yet fruits and vegetables still provide the greatest amount of carbohydrates because they are natural foods that contain enzymes, phyto-chemicals and other nutrients that artificial foods cannot provide.

Reducing the amount of fat in the diet is essential. These fats usually come from mono and poly-saturated sources as well as animal fat.

Fat should be eaten in small quantities because too much or too little can cause problems with the dietary program.

A good example is milk. Those who drink should switch from whole milk to low fat. Soy milk is also ideal for those who require calcium to strengthen their bones. The intake of liquids is very important for those dieting.

There are many calories in sodas (pop) and juices; even diet sodas are not good because they only make an individual want to eat more. The best thing to drink during each meal is still water.

By eating smart, a person will feel good and be able to see the difference in their appearance. People who once laughed will be envious.

Even after the desired weight and appearance has been achieved, it is important that it is maintained. If not, those extra pounds will come back and a person will have to start over again.

BEAUTY THROUGH EXERCISE

Everyone knows that exercise can improve a person’s health. Do people realize that it can also help an individual’s appearance?

When people see an advertisement, the viewer is made to believe that if the individual in the ad can do it, anyone can achieve the same results in a period of time. Unfortunately, this is not always true.

This is because the biological genetics of a human being are inherited from their parents: so if the family is made up chubby people, there is a chance the same will be true of that person.

Some people believe that beauty is limited to what is seen on the outside. This can be achieved if the person decides to join an exercise program.

Working the muscles can cause the person to lose or gain weight, tone the muscles, and flatten the abs.

Consult your doctor first then find a personal trainer that can design a program that will work to attain the person’s objectives.

Exercise builds up a person’s endurance and resistance against disease. This will keep the individual healthy, strong, and immune to disease.

A smile can change a bad day into a good one. Exercise can make this happen since males and females have endorphins which are hormones produced by the body and are usually activated by a good workout in the gym.

Beauty is not only skin deep: it also requires improving the beauty from within. This can be done by reading books and other activities to keep the mind sharp.

People should maintain a proper diet by eating fruits, vegetables, meat and fish: eating all of these will provide the proper amounts of carbohydrates, proteins and fats needed by the body.

Appearance can also be improved by getting the proper amount of rest. Doctors say that 8 hours of sleep is ideal but some people have proven that 5 to 6 hours can sufficient.

Many gyms are not only equipped with exercise equipment. These facilities may also have spas, saunas and massage parlors that when combined with exercise can release the tension in the body making the person feel rested.

Exercise is just one of the many things that can help improve the appearance of a person. Those who have vices such as smoking or drinking should stop since they impede the progress that one is trying so hard to achieve by working out in a gym.

Cleaning the Face Can Improve the Person’s Appearance

The most common thing that people see in a person is their face. The movement of the eyes and lips can tell a lot about a person, making first impressions last.

Since this part of the body cannot be covered like the others when going outdoors, proper care must be given to prevent blemishes and wrinkles from appearing.

Some people think that rinsing or washing the face with soap is enough to keep it clean. Studies have shown that some of the chemicals used in soap do more harm than good.

Experts who have specialized in this field have developed the best products for people to use.

There a many pharmaceutical and beauty companies around the world who are working constantly in research and development of new products. The products that are launched come in different shapes and sizes; the most common of these is the facial cleanser.

Some of these products require the user to use them twice a day: in the morning and before going to bed in the evening.

This is necessary because a person is exposed to germs, fumes and other contaminants in the air that could be harmful to that person.

These products may come in the form of oils, creams and gels that cater to different age groups. They are also used to remove make up.

Those who are always out in the field and are exposed to the sun should use a sun block on the face. This will protect the skin from ultraviolet rays: sunglasses are used to protect the eyes.

Not everyone is born with white skin. People can use cosmetics to improve the appearance or try whitening solutions for a better effect.

Older people can buy and use anti-aging solutions that might give the individual a youthful glow and fights off wrinkles.

Facial products can be beauty or clinically based. A dermatologist can recommend either of these products depending on the patient’s skin condition.

Those who cannot afford to consult a professional can try the items that can be purchased over the counter.

Since some people have sensitive skin, those who experience any allergies should stop using any product that might cause a problem and seek the help of a professional. By finding the correct product and using it regularly, the individual will be pleased every time they look in the mirror.

SO YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT FACIAL IMPLANTS

Well, you’re not alone. An average of 350,000 men and women in the United States get facial implants annually. Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) was the most used; but other facial implant procedures target the chin, jaw and the cheeks.

Facial implants can bring a more harmonious balance to a face. Whether it is to create a stronger more sculpted jaw line or to raise cheekbones, facial implants can be the answer to enhance your appearance.

So what do you need to know about getting facial implants?

First, look for a plastic surgeon that you trust. The basis for your trust has to be more than just thinking the doctor “seems okay.” You may feel embarrassed to ask, but it is well within your rights to inquire about the doctor’s credentials.

It is also perfectly acceptable to ask how many procedures (like the one you intend to have done), has the doctor previously performed. Getting recommendations from friends and acquaintances you trust is a good place to start.

(As a side note, do not be misled into thinking that a plastic surgeon and a cosmetician / aesthetician are the same.

THEY ARE NOT.

A plastic surgeon has gone through medical school and is licensed to perform surgery. Cosmeticians and aestheticians don’t have such training and are not allowed to carry out procedures like facial implants.)

Once you’ve decided which doctor to use, share what you want to achieve with the procedure with him: don’t expect the doctor to read your mind.

If you find describing your desired look difficult, try taking some pictures to him as examples of the type of chin, jaw, or nose you desire to have following the surgery.

Some doctor’s clinics have computer programs that can simulate an implant’s effect on the face to help with your decision of what you really want.

Next, be honest with your doctor regarding your lifestyle. Don’t start lying about your smoking habits just because it’s a doctor who’s asking you.

Details like those are important for your plastic surgeon. It will help him / her address possibilities for infection and so that you can take steps toward a swifter recovery.

Finally, prepare yourself for the immediate effects of the procedure. Your body will react with a lot of swelling and discomfort, but this is natural as it is the body’s way of healing itself.

Give it 7-10 days to relieve the swelling and a few more weeks before you participating in rigorous activities like sports.

Your new facial implant will greatly enhance your appearance. Just take the time to do your homework right.

YOUR FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY CHECKLIST:

Is it a nose or face lift? Cheek or chin implants?

Whatever type of plastic surgery procedure you think you need (or want); there are things to consider so that you get the best results not only for your appearance, but more importantly, your health and your self-esteem.

1. Who’s your doctor?
This is the most important decision you will make; even above the issue of how expensive your face-lift will be. Plastic surgery is still surgery, which means certain things will be done to your body – which is something you should never take lightly.

Take the time to look for a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon that has performed, many times, the procedure you choose to undergo.

You wouldn’t want to settle for a liposuction expert to work on your nose, right?

Also, make sure the person you are considering is a licensed doctor – because that’s what plastic surgeons are – doctors.

They are not cosmeticians or aestheticians that took a 3-month course in some vocational school. For surgery, it’s a medical degree and nothing less.

2. Know what you want (but be ready to listen and follow your doctor’s advice). Although they hold a medical degree, your doctor is not a psychic who can read your mind.

You need to tell him / her what you want to achieve from the procedure. Bring pictures to give your doctor an idea of what you have in mind. You doctor may even have a computer program for this very purpose.

However, listen to your doctor if they give you advice (because that’s what you pay them for!). If, for example, your doctor tells you that the cheek implant you want still won’t make you look like Jennifer Lopez listen and adjust your expectations accordingly.

3. This is going to hurt…
… at least for a while, immediately after the procedure. But don’t be scared, the swelling and discomfort are indicators your body is reacting to the surgery by healing itself. In 7 to 10 days, the pain and swelling should subside substantially.

But even then, give yourself enough time to fully recover (about a month or so) before taking up activities that can strain your body.

Finally, make sure you really, REALLY want the procedure (and not just because someone made a wise crack at how you look or told you that you should have plastic surgery).

Plastic surgery exists to enhance the appearance you’ve already have – not to fix something that’s wrong with you, because there isn’t. And that’s something you don’t need a medical degree to know for certain.

IMPROVE YOUR APPEARANCE  FROM FOOD YOU EAT

Being physically fit not only means being healthy; it also means that you are looking great.

A healthy diet is essential for maintaining a desired weight and is a key factor for improving your entire appearance.

There are foods that are essential for having a healthy body and a youthful appearance.

You do not have to undergo aesthetic surgery to look good. All you need is to eat the proper food needed to make you healthy.

Here are some recommended foods that are best for maintaining your body weight to make you look your best.

1. Eat plenty of fruit. You can eat a variety of fruits, which are rich in Vitamin C.

It is advisable to measure the calorie intake every day. For a 2000-calorie diet, you may need only 2 cups of fruit juice. You may eat one large orange or a small banana.

2. Eat dark green vegetables such as broccoli, beans, and kale. Other vegetables that are also essential for a healthy diet include pumpkins, garbanzo beans, lentils, winter squash, carrots, and split beans.

3. Eat the essential whole grains. You may have at least 3 ounces of bread, rice, cereals, or pasta daily. One slice of bread or one cup of cereal is estimated to be one ounce.

4. Eat calcium rich food. You may have 3 cups of fat free milk or 3 cups of yogurt. You may also have ½ cup of low fat cheese, which is equivalent to 1 cup of milk. Drink lactose-free milk if there is no available low fat milk.

5. Go lean with protein rich foods. Buy meat and poultry that are low in fats. Consider grilling or baking the meat product to lessen the fat. Add fish, seeds, and beans, which are good sources of protein.

6. You need to drink at least eight glasses of water daily and avoid drinking beverages that contain sugar. Avoid drinking alcohol to make sure that your skin does not become dry.

7. Eat foods that are rich in zinc. Zinc can help you maintain the necessary elements from the oil glands of the skin. It helps prevent acne breaking out on your face.

Food groups, which are rich in Vitamin A, C, and E, can provide a healthy diet. Vitamin E especially is essential for maintaining a beautiful skin.

A balanced diet is necessary to assure proper distribution of vitamins and minerals within the body.
This will insure that you stay healthy and at the same looking your best.

Can Gardening Help You to Look Good?

Gardening and other outdoor activities can enhance your body metabolism. Outdoor projects help you to be active and enjoy your family. You may do gardening with your family to keep you away from being isolated in the living room watching television.

Working in the garden can be compared to exercising. This will keep you from gaining unwanted weight and will give you a physically active body.

Many experts agree that outdoor activities like gardening are a way to keep you busy and active. A regular physical activity in the work area will help you achieve a desired body shape. Here are ways gardening can help you look and feel good.

1. You may work on your wind chimes; there are many designs to choose from. Give your garden a patio or deck design that will complement the whole environment on a windy day. A pleasant environment will make you happy and look good.

2. Tend your plants every morning. Use the different tools available when watering, potting, and cultivating the soil. This is a form of weight-lifting exercises, which is good for your health and metabolism.

3. Gardening can help you breathe fresh air. This outdoor activity will not confine you inside your house. Gardening gives you a reason to go outdoors and enjoy the fresh air that is needed to keep you healthy.

4. Gardens may appear stark without large green plants and beautiful flowers. Flowers have been proven to release people from depression. The flowers that you see in your garden will release stress and relax you.

5. The fruits and vegetables you reap from your garden are essential in keeping you healthy. Gardening will allow you to eat healthy foods and they promote a healthy lifestyle.

6. Gardening is a leisure activity that will allow you to avoid unhealthy lifestyles like smoking, drinking alcohol, etc.

Smoking and alcohol have been proven to make the skin dry and can cause diseases. Instead of wasting your time with these unhealthy habits, you can occupy your time by gardening.

Gardening is the best way for you to be actively working. You may not need to enroll in a weight loss program where you would be spending hundreds of dollars for the program. You can maintain your beautiful body figure as you work enjoyably in your garden.

GOOD POSTURE CAN IMPROVE APPEARANCE

Posturing is very important for people both young and old. Good posture will insure that a person is balanced at all times and not become a hunchback. People should practice this whenever sitting in a chair, walking or lying down in bed.

Since it is tiring to work on a computer for an entire day, a person must choose a chair that has a good cushion and is ideal for their back.

The individual should sit properly with the hips against the back of the chair and the knees slightly lower.

Since this only protects the upper back, a small cushion should be inserted to provide cushioning for the lower portion of they body. Whenever a person stands, the knees should be bent slightly to help the person rise.

As an individual moves forward, their shoulders should be relaxed making it easy to move freely and not appear to be a robot.

A good way to practice posturing is by using a mirror. A person can see this while standing in facing forward or in a sideway position. This will make it easy to determine if everything from top to bottom is aligned.

Choosing the right mattress is also important for good posture. A person should purchase a mattress that is not too soft or too hard.

Whenever lying down, the back should be against the bedding. Those who have a hard time can put a pillow under the knees to assist them to attain this position.

As much as possible, people should avoid sleeping their side; this will cause strain on the muscle that is pressed against the bedding making it numb.

People should also avoid curling up since this puts strain on the spine and may cause muscle pain after getting up.

People who have problems with the back should consult a chiropractor for an examination and to make recommendations for improving their posture.

Those who want to improve their posture should exercise regularly at home; working on the abs and back.

A person can choose to purchase and exercise machine that is available at a sporting goods store or from the internet.

Those who don’t want to spend a great amount of money can exercise by doing sit-ups and other floor exercises.

Constant practice at home and when going out in public can really help a person’s appearance and prevent them from slouching or walking like penguins which will make an individual the laughing stock of the town.

HAIR STYLE TO IMPROVE APPEARANCE

A person’s hairstyle is his crowning glory, whether that person is a man or a woman.

Have you noticed a how a person changes his appearance with a change of hairstyle?

Women often change their hairstyles to alter their moods.

Women who experience depression will sometimes change their hairstyles believing that a new hairstyle will not only change their looks but how they feel about themselves as well.

The changes in a person’s appearance due to a change in hairstyle can be summed up in one word - transformation!

Nothing changes a person’s appearance and character more than a change of hairstyle, whether it’s a change of the hair color or a haircut.

But as with make up, the foundation of a good hairstyle is a healthy scalp.  Anyone who desires to change their appearance must start with the basic care of their scalp.

While there is no compelling evidence to support the old saying that brushing your hair a hundred times each day will make you hair healthier, it may be a good tip for those who want to keep their hair healthy.

Brushing the hair (although not exactly a hundred times), will have a good effect on your scalp.  It is always advisable to massage the scalp to stimulate the hair follicles.

A person cannot choose the kind of hair he is born with although it can be improve.  Your hair type has been determined from the moment you were in your mother’s womb, since genes are the determining factor.

Those with thinning hair problems have probably inherited the problem from their parents.  If you experience excessive hair loss, do not fret because more hair will replace the hair that has been naturally discarded.

Many women have a difficult time growing long hair.  If you experience this, try using a mild shampoo and avoid too much washing as this will damage the natural oils of your hair.  Brushing your hair and massaging your scalp regularly will help improve hair growth.

People who have oily hair have healthier hair but this type is prone to becoming limp and dull.
